Music Coordinator - Primary

Flexible post - 0.6 contract to be organised flexibly with the headship team.

We really value the part that music plays in the life of our school which is why we invest in music provision, firstly through recruiting a leader with a passion and expertise for inspiring children through music.

If you are a qualified teacher and music is your passion, this is a role that you can shape to make your own. Our exciting role involves teaching PPA music cover to classes of children across the school. You will not have day to day responsibility for a class. As part of our music offer we also have a team of instrument tutors who come in to school each week to teach children on their chosen instrument. In this role you will support their work, our music clubs provision and will organise occasional concerts in school. If successful, the school would consider developing the role further with capacity for more hours.

We really need a musician who can lead and accompany whole school and key stage singing, so the ability to play an instrument and confidently lead singing would be an advantage.

We value the wide-ranging role that music plays in enhancing both well-being and learning, so we are looking for you to bring your ideas and energy to build on what we can achieve.

As well as through directly teaching music, you will impact positively on the life of the school by such things as:

  • Developing opportunities for performance and supporting musical productions
  • Leading singing with different groups and running choir
  • Leading the work of our vibrant team of musical instrument tutors

....but above all, we hope you will bring fun and enjoyment, opening up opportunities for our children and feeding their aspirations.

In the past our music offer has included ensembles ranging from orchestra and flute choir, to rock school, samba band and djembe. We would like to re-energise music so that we extend our opportunities for children to make music together.

You will benefit from having a particularly well resourced, dedicated music room as well as two additional tuition spaces– everything you need to make your ideas a reality!

You would be very welcome to visit us to see the school in action. To find out more about this opportunity and to explore whether this could be an exciting career opportunity for you, please call the school office to arrange a convenient time.

River Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure. In line with KCSIE guidance, paragraph 220, all candidates who are shortlisted will be subject to an online search. This search is not part of the shortlisting process itself and all shortlisted candidates will have the opportunity to address any issues of concern resulting from the search.
