We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled teaching assistant to support within our Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) for autistic children. This is a varied role and every day is different!

Children within the SRP are valued members of both the SRP and their mainstream class. Each child has a personalised timetable within the SRP, which indicates when children will access mainstream lessons. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, has excellent communication skills, is a good team player, and has a passion for helping children achieve their full potential, and who values creativity, innovation and commitment.

The role is a permanent contract, term time - 38 weeks of the year; 32.5 hours a week.

Within this role, you will work with the SRP Lead Specialist Teacher to:

  • Support children to complete their learning, both within the specialist resource provision and in their mainstream classes.
  • Deliver interventions and programmes such as speech and language therapy or occupational therapy
  • Work on both a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Liaise with external therapists and other professionals
  • Track children’s progress towards their targets
  • Provide individualised feedback to parents

St Nicholas CE Primary Academy, as part of Aquila, The Diocese of Canterbury Academies Trust, is situated in the heart of New Romney, set in beautiful surroundings, and is well-resourced to meet the needs of its 15 classes and 400+ children, in this over-subscribed and well-maintained school judged Good with Outstanding features by OFSTED (May 2019).

We have a committed and enthusiastic staff who are determined to enable every child to reach their potential by providing them with a stable, caring environment where children are happy to attend and are stimulated and keen to learn while developing their potential. We cater to a wide range of abilities encouraging all children to achieve at their highest level.

We are fortunate to have on-site an outstanding private nursery, which provides breakfast and an after-school club within the school, and a Children's Centre.

The academy also has a Specialist Resource Provision (SRP). The SRP is a 14-place specialist provision sited within the mainstream academy for children with an Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) designation.

New Romney is an ancient Cinque Port situated in rural Kent, with excellent road links to Ashford (20 minutes), Canterbury (45 minutes) and Folkestone (30 minutes), or if you live in East Sussex only 45 minutes from Hastings!
