This is a unique role that offers flexible working hours that would work alongside another job, or is equally suitable for a retired individual who is looking for a part-time role. An interest in education and the development of a child would be beneficial. Strong organisational and minute taking skills are essential.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Governance Professional and Company Secretary to join our friendly Trustee board.  You will provide effective and efficient support to the Trustees, particularly the Chair of Trustees, Headteacher and SLT.  This would include attendance at 20 meetings per year (5.00-7.00pm) plus possible additional/extraordinary panel meetings. The scope of the role covers Hillview School for Girls, The View@East Street and Littleview Nursery.

This position could run in line with other Governance Professional clerking roles.

Responsibilities may vary but will include:

  • Preparing the annual programme of meetings.
  • Prepare agendas and take minutes;
  • Advising Trustees on procedural issues and the background to agenda items;
  • Complete regular skills audits of Trustees, recruiting appropriate new Trustees and contributing to their induction;
  • Ensuring the Trustee board are fully compliant in their duties.

Please use the contact details below if you would like the opportunity to tour the school or to discuss the role informally before making an application.

More information on the scope of the role can be sourced on the NGA website: https://www.nga.org.uk/knowledge-centre/governance-professional-role-description/

The View @ East Street (TV@ES) This is a new provision based in the heart of Tonbridge. It is a comfortable and small-scale study centre for 16 to 17-year-old students. This Satellite Centre, of the highly successful Hillview School for Girls, offers the highest level of support through a personalised and nurturing approach to its students, with dedicated pastoral support, counsellors and support mentors. This centre supports young people who would benefit and prefer to study in a smaller learning environment.

Two study programmes are available which can be personalised to meet the student’s interests and needs. Our personalised careers advice supports the student in meeting their aspirations and guides them onto the next part of their journey, whether it be moving onto an apprenticeship or further full-time educational studies in a Sixth Form or college environment. Our focus is firmly on equipping young people not only with key qualifications, but also with the broad range of employability and life skills they need for a sustained career – with the option to continue their studies in Higher Education.

Additional Learning Support at TV@ES is designed to remove any potential barriers to learning and ensure successful outcomes. We work closely with all our students to organise support and make reasonable adjustments to their learning experiences. Our experienced and specialist team offer a range of support, treating all students as individuals and enabling them to achieve their full potential.
