We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Science Technician to join our dynamic team. The Science Technician will play a crucial role in supporting our science department by preparing materials, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring the smooth operation of experiments and demonstrations.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare laboratory materials and equipment for science experiments and demonstrations.

- Assist teaching staff in setting up experiments and demonstrations, providing technical support as needed.

- Maintain laboratory equipment and facilities, ensuring they are clean, organised, and in good working condition.

- Manage inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment, replenishing stock as needed.

- Follow health and safety protocols to ensure a safe laboratory environment for students and staff.

- Provide guidance and support to students during laboratory sessions, promoting best practices in laboratory techniques and safety procedures.

- Collaborate with teaching staff to develop new experiments and demonstrations that enhance the learning experience for students.

- Stay updated on developments in laboratory techniques, equipment, and safety regulations.

Person Specification

- Previous experience working as a science technician in an educational setting is preferred.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and cleanliness in the laboratory.

- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

- Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and basic computer skills.

Ripplevale Rochester is an independent specialist provision for students aged 6 to 25 who have been diagnosed with various needs, which may include ASD, dyslexia, speech, language and communication difficulties, DCD, sensory, social, emotional and other learning difficulties along with high levels of anxiety.
