Goldwyn School is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant who is passionate about working with young people with Special Educational Needs, and who can help us make a positive impact on a student’s life by helping them to achieve their full potential.

If you’re the sort of person who’s resourceful, flexible and doesn’t hesitate to do that little bit extra, then you could make a real difference to our students. All our students have an Education, Health and Care Plan in place and a range of needs including Social, Emotional & Mental Health difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and ADHD.

This is a post that will provide students the opportunity to be independent, we are aspirational that students move onto mainstream college, for some students their complex Mental Health needs create barriers, this partnership allows students to access a wide and Outstanding range of courses in East Kent College whilst having their complex needs met by our highly skilled staff.

The successful LSA will have a warm, compassionate personality and a genuine desire to make a positive difference to the student's learning.   Whilst previous experience in Specialist Education is desirable it’s more about having a positive outlook and a good sense of humour. 

This could be your ideal next role if you are:

  • Experienced or passionate in working with students aged 11-18 years with a range of social emotional mental health and/or behavioural needs.
  • Confident in working in an education environment in which behaviour will be challenging on a regular basis
  • Comfortable working with both clear direction and using your own initiative
  • An effective team player
  • Committed and enthusiastic to provide bespoke learning experiences to vulnerable children and young people
  • Patient, resilient, calm and composed
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Able to meet deadlines and work comfortably in a challenging and demanding environment

This post is offered on a minimum salary of £23,388 per annum pro rata plus SEN Allowance of £1422,52 per annum and is for 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks a year (term time only plus 5 staff development days).   Actual salary is £19,208.39 per annum including SENA

Goldwyn is an outstanding and unique secondary (11-18) SEMH special school in Kent, operating over 4 sites in Ashford and Folkestone, with each site running its own distinctive educational pathway.

We are a highly regarded and successful school which has expanded its provision to meet the needs of our increasingly complex and vulnerable students.

Following an internal restructuring, we are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed strategic leader to work with the Principal to maintain the outstanding provision we have created, whilst seeking to develop innovative and exemplary practice within SEMH education.

Goldwyn School is a KCC Foundation Special School for children and young people with an EHCP for SEMH needs from age 11 to 18. Students who are admitted to the school have complex and wide ranging difficulties and come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds and a wide geographical area.
