Safeguarding Assistant

Salary: NJC Grade D2 Points 04 - 11

£18,283 - £20,549 (Per Annum)

Hours: 35 Hours Per Week, Term Time Only

Required: April 2024

We are currently seeking a dedicated and motivated Safeguarding Assistant to join our team. The safeguarding assistant will work with the DSL and DDSLs, supporting with safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people, following school policies, procedures and the staff code of conduct.

They will develop and maintain positive relationships between the home and school and act as a link between home and school. The role will also involve a focus on attendance and punctuality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with Headteacher, and where appropriate other Senior Leaders e.g. the SENDCo, to offer support to parents/carers and families who are identified by the school, by support services or who refer themselves.
  • To help families and children to access services, resources and local community information.
  • To support with the running of groups for parents/carers, appropriate to the needs of the needs of the school. E.g. baby and toddler group, parent education session etc.
  • Establish and foster good relationships with parents/carers of children and encourage good home/school communication - Identify pupils and families of concern or those needing additional support - Meet with pupils and parents/carers as appropriate with regards to welfare issues - Following clear risk assessments, undertake home visits to promote pupil attendance and wellbeing

 Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Awareness of child protection and safeguarding
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and use initiative when required
