Duties

  • Ensure the smooth running of your room, making sure the staff in your team are implementing age-appropriate activities for children in the nursery
  • Create a safe and stimulating environment for children to learn and play
  • Supervise and monitor the children at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being
  • Provide personal care and support to children, including feeding, changing nappies, and assisting with toileting
  • Collaborate with parents and communicate regularly about their child's progress and development
  • Ensuring that your team is supported in their daily duties
  • Maintain accurate records of each child's daily activities
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organised nursery environment

Requirements 

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a nursery or childcare setting
  • Relevant level 3 qualifications or above in early childhood education.
  • Strong knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early years education
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues
  • Knowledge of the EYFS.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with other nursery practitioners
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • A caring and nurturing attitude towards children, with a genuine passion for their well-being and development.

Information about the school

Canterbury Day Nursery is for children of 3 months to 5 years. It comprises of Ducklings for babies, Caterpillars for toddlers and under three’s and Butterflies for the pre-school children, Monday to Friday 8 am to 6 pm all year round. The Ladybird room is open from 9.15 until 12.15 Monday to Friday during school term times only, this will provide families entitled to the government two, three and four year old funding for children. The After School Club (Monkeys) is for children from reception- year 6. It is open from 8.00am for breakfast club for St Thomas school children and After school club for St Thomas School, from 3.00pm- 6.00pm. The Holiday Play Scheme is for any children who attend school full time up to the age of 11 years. Open from 8.00am until 6.00pm every school holiday.

Our aim is: To provide full day and out of school care for children aged three months to eleven years in a secure, safe and stimulating environment. To enhance the education and development of the children in a parent involving community based group. To work within a framework which ensures equality of opportunity and support for all children and their families who attend our setting.
