The Head Works-Cultivate your Curriculum with Monty Don -see news & events page
Date: 20/05/2013 - 10/06/2013
“Cultivating your Curriculum” is fast becoming an important item on agendas across the education arena. Gardening provides opportunities for increased scientific knowledge and understanding, aids pupils’ confidence, resilience and respect for themselves and their environment. For Headteachers it provides an opportunity to relax and unwind at the end of a hectic day or week. We are delighted to have Monty Don share his past experiences working with youth groups, promoting gardening and working in the natural environment. Launched five years ago, Head Works responds to evidence that Headteachers devote a lot of time to caring for the wellbeing of their staff but often neglect their own health and happiness. The Head Works experience encourages new thinking and provides new ideas for teachers that can be introduced and integrated into the school timetable. This event will be held at the popular East Malling Conference Centre which is part of the internationally recognised East Malling Research Centre, home to some of the National Fruit Collection. Our keynote speaker will finish the day by encouraging teachers to take a more rounded approach and turn gardening into an important tool that can support everyone in the school. • Learn how to graft your very own fruit tree • Seasonal growing tips • Tips on how to start your own mini school allotment • 10 apple trees to be won • Introduction to our new Boomerang Wellness programme for school staff • Check out your health with our on site Wellness Kiosk • Q & A session with Monty 12th July 2013, East Malling Conference Centre, New Road, East Malling, Kent ME19 6BJ 9am to 3pm (lunch included) To reserve your place use
