Enter the NASUWT Arts & Minds Competition 2013

Date: 21/03/2013 - 01/07/2013

The schools-based competition has been organised by the NASUWT to celebrate Black History Month and to promote cultural diversity, equality and tackling racism in schools. TV Presenter Gok Wan will again be choosing the overall winner as this highly successful competition celebrates its tenth year.

The Arts & Minds Competition is a great opportunity to discuss and explore diversity and community cohesion with students, using art and creative writing. It is intended that the competition complement schools' existing classroom activities on ethnic diversity, identity and anti-racism. Children and young people can explore what diversity, equality and identity means to them and how this is reflected in their lives, families, schools and communities.

As part of the competition we also have a separate category for the Anne Frank Poetry Award which is presented by our partners the Anne Frank Trust UK. Prizes will be presented at a prestigious awards ceremony on 8 October 2013 and include: • overnight accommodation at a deluxe London hotel and appropriate travel and subsistence expenses for winning pupils, their parent/guardian and a teacher; • a visit to a top London attraction; • £1000 for the overall winning school; • £350 for all winning schools; • gift vouchers worth up to £100 for winning pupils.

The Entry Form and Competition Guidelines for this year's competition are available at www.nasuwt.org.uk/ArtsandMinds. The closing date for submission of entries is 1st July 2013.
