Job Description

We are recruiting to our team of SEN Inclusion Advisers who work collaboratively as part of the SEND Operations team which includes SEND Assessment, Placement and Tribunal and our Education colleagues within the Education and SEND directorate, 

The post holders will work across one or more districts within the North, East, South or West Kent areas as part of a countywide team. The SEN Inclusion Advisers are required to support at times across the county.

The SEN IA are part of the SEN Support and Inclusion Team schools and post 16 and our aim is to ensure that children and young people with SEND will be able to attend their local mainstream school/college wherever possible and for the majority of children, without the need for an Education Health and Care (EHC) Plan.

We work collaboratively with our local teams including Specialist Teachers (Specialist teaching and Learning Service) and early years teams.

We provide support to schools to identify children and young people with SEND early and ensure that they have the right support at the right time.

Our role also includes support to develop whole school/provider inclusion, embedding mainstream core standards and individual provision plans for children and young people with SEND.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a team in a range of educational establishments and with other KCC services as well as colleagues from health and social care.

You will need to have Qualified Teacher Status, the successful completion National Award for SEN Coordination or another relevant Post Graduate qualification in SEN and experience of working within and supporting other schools in developing their capacity to meet the needs of SEN pupils.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
