Maidstone

Maidstone is the county town of Kent, situated 32 miles south-east of London. The River Medway runs through the centre of the town, linking it with Rochester and the Thames Estuary.

The town centre is lively with plenty to do but the surrounding area is largely comprised of smaller villages with only a few miles to travel to find the Kentish countryside. Maidstone is ranked within the top five for shopping in the South East and has a multiplex cinema. It has an array of shops from the two main shopping centres, Fremlin Walk and The Mall to independent retailers located in the Royal Star Arcade and Union Street.

There are also plenty of other things to do in Maidstone from a visit to the cinema or theatre to a walk in Mote Park or a day at the museum.

The Borough of Maidstone has plenty to do and see for all variety of interests. The bustling town is surrounded by beautiful landscapes, living up to Kent’s iconic label as The Garden of England. The North Downs is an excellent location for walking and the river Medway is used for many water sports including rowing.

The Museum of Kent Life boasts a great day out for all ages with animals, historic buildings and tractors to ride! The Hazlitt Theatre holds regular performances of all sorts and Maidstone Museum and Art Gallery has its own Egyptian Mummy.
