Canterbury is full of old streets and beautiful buildings and Canterbury Cathedral is definitely worth a visit. Hever Castle, Leeds Castle and Sissinghurst Castle are just three of Kent’s historic castles surrounded by acres of grounds and gardens.

Kent’s Hop Farm and County Showground host cultural shows such as farming markets and steam train rallys. Every year the show ground plays host to the County Show, which is a huge event promoting all the different aspects of County living.

It is easy to see why Kent is called ‘The Garden of England’ when you take a walk in its varied countryside. Walk the Green Sand Way and explore the Kent Downs or enjoy the numerous National Trust sites which include houses, gardens and sites like The White Cliffs of Dover.

The Coast and Seaside Towns

As well as the varied in-land countryside Kent is also a seaside county with many beaches and seaside towns. Dymchurch and Hythe are just two of the small seaside towns and the Dymchurch and Hythe Railway runs between the two. There are plenty of Seaside spots that offer water sport activities, such as Joss Bay for surfing and Whitstable for sailing clubs.
