Postgraduate

The Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) is an academic, year long ITT programme which combines college based study with placements in school. The PGCE focuses primarily on developing teaching skills therefore a thorough knowledge of your subject is essential.

Online Initial Teacher Training

Open University

There are training routes available through the Open University, www.ou.ac.uk.

ITeach

Canterbury Christ Church University host an online teacher training programme, which allows a more flexible approach. Currently this is open to those wishing to train in secondary Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Please visit www.iteach.ac.uk for further information.

Undergraduate

The undergraduate option is to study for three or four years full time for a degree in education (part time options are also available). Graduates will leave with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Education. Course content varies according to institution.
