Job Description

Do you dream of finding a Part-Time Teaching role where classes are small and you have plenty of PPA time?

Do you enjoy seeing the young people you support develop their skills, knowledge and confidence?

Are you looking to join a team that is focused, hard-working, and mutually supportive, where your skills, experience, and contributions are valued and will help shape the future and quality of the programme?

Do you thrive in a collaborative environment that provides a nurturing and supportive learning environment?

Do you enjoy identifying the challenges that young people face in their learning and putting measures in place to support them?

The Supported Employment educational provision is going through an exciting period of growth, as we work alongside more young people with the goal that they gain sustained and meaningful employment at the end of their time with us. This powerful education and employment model is proven to be effective at overcoming the many barriers young people with learning disabilities and/or autism face with employment.

We are pleased to be seeking a new teacher to join our team to provide maternity cover at our Medway site. You will work with a class of 7-8 young people supported by a learning support mentor to deliver our well-established Supported Employment programme.

You will predominantly be delivering functional skills lessons, which are vital to a young person’s journey with bemix. There may be occasions when you need to adapt and cover different content, but bemix will support you in any ways necessary to ensure your success.

This is a maternity cover role, for up to 9 months.
Beginning Friday 1st September 2024 - 31st March 2025

Hours: 16.25 hours per week, during term time, across an academic year. This includes:

2 hours PPA time per week
0.75 hour admin time for EHCP's per week
1 .5 hours for meetings per week
1 hour contact time to cover colleagues breaks per week

Reasonable additional hours will be required as necessary to effectively fulfil professional teaching duties.

Location: Chatham

Salary and benefits: £30,660, pro rata, plus contributory pension scheme with bemix contributing 5% of salary.
